We are finally finished Lethbridge Past. This month we have started to look at our first of 3 communities: Iqaluit. During the next 2 months, students will have an opportunity to chat with a class in Resolute Bay, as well as view a google virtual field trip to Iqaluit, where they will visit a school, and explore the Tundra Buggy.
October 28:
We are currently working on a Lethbridge Book. Each day we have been focusing on a new letter and learning more about the history of Lethbridge. Today we focused on our history. Each student brought in a special object from their past. They had an opportunity to share their object with the class, then complete a drawing and written description. Just another fun Social Studies class in Grade 2!

Today we went on a field trip to the Galt Museum. During our field trip we had an opportunity to learn about the history of Lethbridge.
Some of the things we learned:
- Lethbridge used to be called Coalbanks because of the amount of Coal found in Lethbridge.
- Nicholas Sheran was the first miner in Lethbridge. We now have many things named after him here in Lethbridge.
- We explored the museum looking at many artifacts from Lethbridge's past.

October 7:
Yesterday we went on an adventure to Galt Gardens (once known as Square Park). Students participated in a treasure hunt where they had to match present buildings to buildings 100 years ago. The students absolutely wowed the socks off me as they were superstars during the treasure hunt. Their attention to detail is amazing! We look forward to our final field trip in 2 weeks to Galt Museum.
