On Thursday May 14, we will be kicking off our new math unit (measurment) by having an Oreo Day! Each student will be asked to do two things:
1. Bring one package of regular oreo cookies into school by Thursday (sooner is fine, as we can store them in the classroom).
2. Dress in black and white to show our Oreo Day pride!

Wanted: Dads!
On April 30, the grade two classes are going to be doing a special project that involves some tricky supplies! This project will require the help of some adult volunteers, however we are hoping that this project will turn into a Mother's Day gift, and as such are asking for Dads to come in and help us with our project. If you are a dad, uncle, or grandpa and are available on the morning of April 30, please let Mrs. Garlock know. We would very much appreciate your help!

Upcoming Field Trips
We have a very busy few weeks ahead of us in Grade 2. Included in the fun, is three upcoming field trips.
1. Charlotte's Web the play. We will be travelling to Chinook High School by bus. No parent volunteers are needed.
2. Swimming. We will be going swimming on MONDAY APRIL 13 at 10:00 in the morning (please note that there is an error in the date on the back parent driver form attached to the April newsletter). Please send swimming stuff with your child on this day. If you wish to send this in advance of Easter holidays to ensure you do not forget, your child may leave their stuff in the classroom over Easter break. We are still in need of some parent drivers/supervisors for this trip.
3. Aggie Days. We will be going to Aggie Days at Exhibition Park to learn about farming and agriculture on Wednesday, April 29 from 1:00 - 2:30 (please note that there is an error in the date on the back parent driver form attached to the April newsletter) . We are still in need of some parent drivers/supervisors for this trip.
A huge thank you to those parents who have already offered to help with our field trips. If you are able to add your name to the list of parents who are able to help out, please contact Mrs. Garlock.

Arctic Homes
Today in Social Studies we learned all about the traditional and modern homes of the Inuit people who live in Iqaluit. Although most Inuit no longer live in iglus, we discussed the importance of this symbol for present day Inuit people. We concluded our lesson by building our own iglus out of marshmallows and shaving cream. It was a winter wonderland in our classroom today!
Spirit Cup Winners!
Our class is very excited to share that we were the winners of the Spirit Cup last week! Our awesome MMH team spirit helped us earn a class party with Tim Bits and chocolate milk, as well as the privilege of being the home of the Spirit Cup trophy for the next few days! It sure was an awesome day to be in the 2A class!Monday, January 5, 2015
Welcome to Mrs.Garlock
Hello Everyone!
I'd like to take a moment to welcome Mrs. Garlock to the teaching profession and more importantly to introduce her to all of you. Mrs. Garlock completed her final teaching practicum at MMH from September to December and she has now jumped in to teaching the absolutely fantastic students of 2A. Rest assure your children are left in terrific hands!
Thank you all for your kindness and support over the last 4 months. I'm sorry your children came back from break without "Mrs.Fahey" present but I know they will move on rather quickly and adjust to a new and fantastic teacher.
As an update - I am doing well, as is our baby, however for the next few weeks rest is extremely important. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate in sending me an email - I will be checking it regularly.
Thank you again for 4 months of pure joy with your children. I will miss them dearly, but I will definitely be stopping by for visits!!!
Hope you all had a restful and relaxing holiday. Here's to a wonderful and joyous 2015!
Sincerely,
Amanda Fahey
